Alma Davis, 91, of Oakville died Tuesday at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House. Born in Mauston, Wisconsin to Robert and Lonie (Scharfenberg) Davis, Alma lived in Mauston until moving to Oakville as a teen. She graduated from Corvallis High School and then earned a bachelors degree in education from OSU.
Alma taught school for a time in Southern Oregon. In 1955, she moved to Detroit, Michigan to attend Wayne State University, graduating in 1957. She worked in the labs at Henry Ford and St. John's hospitals in Detroit. She returned to the Willamette valley in 1983 and worked at Salem Hospital for a time before retiring near Oakville.
Alma was an accomplished oil painter and loved gardening. She was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her sister Jean Radke of Corvallis and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Bernard, Howard, and Robert Davis; and sisters Irene Macpherson and Helen Edmondson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Timberhill Place for their wonderful care of Alma.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 4, at the Oakville Church. Private interment will be in the Oakville Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Oakville Youth Scholarship Fund in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St., Albany, OR 97321.
