Edward Rubesh, 95 of Albany, passed away Wednesday at the Mennonite Home.

Ed was born in El Campo, Texas to Edward and Emilie (Jasek) Rubesh. He attended Oakview Country School near Scio and later joined the Navy. Ed served in the Philippines during WWII, stationed as a telephone lineman. After the war, he worked as an electrical lineman in the Albany area for Mountain States Power Company. He worked on the construction of dams next, installing generators in the power-houses in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Ed took great pride in that he helped put up the first spar poles for the Timber Carnival. Ed married Lois Wheadon in 1937 and she passed away in 1981. In 1983, Ed married Dorothy Henshaw in Reno, Nevada.

A 65 year member of the IBEW, Ed retired from J & J Electric and enjoyed spending time traveling and with family. He was also a member of the Elks and Eagles lodges, the V.F.W., American Legion, and the SOKOL Fitness Group. Ed was an avid elk hunter and loved to fish.

Ed loved his family and is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Edward Joe Rubesh and wife Mary Lou of Scio, and Marlene Humphrey and husband Roy of Lebanon; step-daughter, Charyl James and husband Darrell of Albany; sisters, Mary Boyanovsky of Scio, and Edna McDonald of Stayton; grandchildren, Jennifer Rubesh-Hughes and husband James, Shawn Rubesh and wife Staci, Cami Shore and husband Jim, Chelsea Paterson and husband Tommy, Casey Humphrey and wife Allysse; great grandchildren, Samantha and EJ Rubesh, Cheyanne Hughes, Kylie, Maren, and Cooper Shore, and Brooklyn Paterson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; and sisters, Lillian Whittle and Iva Novak.

Viewing will be from 4pm-7pm, Monday, December 10th at Fisher Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, December 11th at Fisher Funeral Home. Private entombment will be at Willamette Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Shriners Childrens Hospital or the Safehaven Humane Society may be sent in care of Fisher Funeral Home, 306 Washington St. SW, Albany, OR 97321.
