Erman K. Johnston, 102, of Albany died Monday at his home at the Mennonite Village. Born in Albany to Paul and Dollie (Bailey) Johnston, Erman was raised in Albany and then spent 18 years with Railway Express before transferring to Southern Pacific Railroad for 20 years.

He married Erma Mesman in Albany on August 23rd, 1933 and they enjoyed over 80 years together. Erman and Erma enjoyed wintering in Yuma, Arizona for 25 years, and were residents of the Mennonite Village for 34 years. Erman was an avid rockhound, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved to take care of Erma. He was a member of South Albany Community Church and Transportation Communication Intl.

Survivors include his wife Erma of Albany; sons Gary and Steven of Albany; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by all ten of his siblings, and by his son Kenneth.

A memorial service will be at 3:30pm, Sunday August 3rd, at the South Albany Community Church. Private entombment was in the Willamette Memorial Park Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to South Albany Community Church.
