Shirley Kay Bowden-Elkins, 66, of Albany passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
The daughter of Thomas and Deloris (Hagan) Bowden was born in Lexington, Nebraska.
Shirley was a very giving and outgoing person. Summed up in a word Shirley was “humble”. She loved adventures, whether it be catching a 6 ft. Leopard Ray in the Coral Sea, traveling down the Amazon River and meeting warring armies of Peru and Ecuador, or staying with an indigenous tribe for a night on the return.
Shirley enjoyed sharing Bible truths with her doctors and nurses.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Edward Elkins Sr.; children Stacy Sutherland, LaDonna Aronson, and Edward Elkins Jr.; brother, Donald Bowden; sister, Judy Squiers; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service is being held 2:00p.m. on May 26 at Kingdom Hall 3030 Grand Prairie Rd. Albany, Or 97322.
